Hi everyone,
I had an awesome weekend. Penguicon was a lot of fun. I had a great experience teaching games to other con goers. My voice is rougher and deeper than normal, which started on Saturday. I hope it goes back to normal soon.
Here is the detailed weekend:
Friday 18.04.08
I drove to the Troy Hilton from Lansing. I stopped in Okemos for a bit to eat. I have to say Denny's is a good place for breakfast food. Later I got a little lost a few times near Woodward, but I figured it out without to much trouble. I got to the Hilton a little after 6pm I believe. I called =
Mahkohime to let her know I got there okay. I first found ~
neko and then my friend Jeff. Then I want to the game rooms, which is where I spent most of my time. I played Vampire: Requime with Jeff and a few other people. It was an interesting game. Also, started Diplomacy that want on the whole weekend. I was Germany, which was not to bad for me. I ended up where I started though.
Saturday 19.04.08
Saturday I started gaming like at 9:00 am or so. I only sleep like 2 hours. I spent most of the night talking to people. I also watched the end of The Highlander Anime. Anyway, back to the morning when I was playing D&D as a Druid named Taluis. I played as if I was a drunken elf that liked to fight. Maybe not the usual way to play a druid, but I had fun. Then I showed a person how to play 10 Days in Asia. It is a rather simple game to learn in that your trying to create a legal trip across Asia following a few quick rules. I won the first game and then the other person won the second game.
Later on between my events I caught a quick game of Star Trek CCG 2.0. Then around 4 pm I taught a game of Race for the Galaxy. It has to be one of my fav games to play. I showed three other people how to play. I won by a nice margin, but everyone had a good time and that is what truly matters. A little after that I played a game of Nuclear War with four others and everyone died in the end which is really common in the game. It was just a blast though.
Then I got in a game under testing called Traitor. It is kinda like werewolf but much shorter. It was a good short deduction game. Next I found myself in a game of Bang. I ended up being the sheriff. I still made it though the game without dying and winning. I thought I was a goner a few times. Jeff and I then played a quick game of V:TES ccg and I just smoked him.
Then got myself into a game of Magic and I felt like a fish out of water. I am not used to playing the game let alone with a weird pool of cards. We played two-headed giant and broke even at 1-1 before picking it up.
Much later like 2:00am or 3:00am I played a game called Container. It was a blast besides the long wait on one of the players to return. My brother can really make games interesting with how he plays a game.
Sunday 20.04.08
The last day of the con. I got only a few games in. First two rounds of Wits and Wagers, which is an interesting trivia game where you don't really need to know the answers. Then I got into another RPG, but this one was not played using dice instead with paper-rock-scissors. It was an interesting game, although at times boring.
Then I take a few of my friends to dinner. When we got back my friend could not find his keys. I went back to the place we ate at and I found them there. I was lucky that a side door was popped open.
That is it for the convention.
As for today 07.05.08
It is the second to last day of school and I am just finishing my last project after this journal. Also, I am going to the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor later tonight to check out a friends band with a group of my other friend. Should be a good time. I think my brother is giving me a ride so I might drink a little at the bar and rock out. I am so looking forward to hanging out although I was just hanging out last night.
Also, I hope to start getting into uploading more things up here. I have a few things from school I want to put up and a bunch of photos.
How is everyone else doing? Anything going on today or later in the week?
P.S. Sorry for such the long journal. I hope the next one will be shorter.
